Galgapothla Family Services Society was created to respond to the unique needs of Gwa’sala-‘Nakxwaxda’xw children and families and to address the lasting impacts of colonial child welfare systems. Our name, Galgapothla — to stand together holding hands — reflects our belief that healing and protection happen collectively, through unity and shared responsibility.

We deliver child and family services that are rooted in Gwa’sala-‘Nakxwaxda’xw culture, guided by traditional kinship and clan systems, and informed by community leadership. Our approach prioritizes keeping children safe while strengthening their connection to family, language, culture, and identity.

Our services include family supports, culturally relevant programming, housing initiatives, professional child welfare services, educational opportunities, healing circles, and ceremony. We work alongside children, parents, extended family members, leaders, and community partners to foster resilience, restore confidence, and rebuild strong family foundations.

We believe that every child deserves to grow up knowing who they are, where they come from, and that they belong.
